Maximum Display Performance for Military & Marine: Optical Bonding

BSE Optical Bonding · March 2026

Demanding Environments Require Uncompromising Technology

In the Defence and Maritime sectors, displays are subjected to extreme stress: intense solar radiation, heavy vibrations, salt-laden air, and the need for strict electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). Conventional displays often fail here due to internal condensation (fogging) or insufficient mechanical stability.

Our Solution: Optical Bonding & Lamination

Through our specialised process, we eliminate the air gap between the display and the cover glass. The result is a robust, integrated system that excels precisely where failure is not an option.

💧 Zero Condensation

No fogging during rapid temperature changes – essential for bridge instruments and marine deployments.

☀️ Superior Readability

Up to 94% reduction in reflections combined with a dramatic increase in contrast – even under direct sunlight.

🛡️ Extreme Robustness

Significantly enhanced resistance to shock and vibration through full-surface, elastic bonding.

🧤 Reliable PCAP Touch Operation

Precise and dependable touch response even in the presence of moisture, wetness, or when wearing gloves.

Special Features for Sensitive Deployments

We integrate functional components directly into the display stack to meet the highest requirements:

  • EMI Filter Mesh Films: For compliance with strict military standards (e.g. MIL-STD-461). These ultra-thin copper or silver mesh films reliably block electromagnetic interference without compromising optical quality.
  • Integrated UV & IR Protection: UV filters protect liquid crystals from yellowing, while IR filters reduce thermal stress – integrated directly into the cover glass assembly. This prevents overheating and dramatically extends panel service life.
  • Splinter Protection & Impact Resistance: Maximum protection for operating personnel and hardware against mechanical impact.

Process Reliability: Cleanroom Manufacturing

To guarantee absolute particle-free conditions and optical clarity, all lamination and bonding processes are carried out exclusively in controlled cleanroom environments. This prevents inclusions and ensures the longevity that is a prerequisite in defence technology.
